We are popping in this time, with a short but very sweet Spotlight which celebrates the successful project undertaken by the Fit O' The Toon Resident Association which was funded through the Hub's first round of the Change for Good Fund .
This group is a small community in Arbroath at the 'Fit o' the Toon', where the Brothock Burn meets the sea.
Their plan was to plant coastal wildflowers on a small strip of unused land, in the Spring of 2024, to create more biodiversity.
It's clear to see from the glorious wildflower pics, provided by one of the 'Fit o' the toon' residents, that this certainly proved a blooming success!
It was noted that there were far more bees seen in that area, and for the first time observed by the residents (in the last 40 + years atleast!) a pair of house martins built their nest on one of the houses, across from where the wild flowers were planted.
While purely anecdotal, we would all like to think this beautiful display of wildflowers played the main role in all of this.
We are delighted to hear that the Residents Association have been granted a couple of new patches nearby (one which currently has slabs over it), to plant some more wildflowers in the coming Spring.
We can't wait to hear what may make a star appearance next year!

SPOTLIGHT FEATURE - There's a lot happening around Angus where people are getting together and doing great things with and for their community. We want to shine a SPOTLIGHT, sharing and celebrating what is happening in the wider community. We hope this may inspire you to get involved, connect with others, learn a new skill or even set up your own group!
